Gloria, Beloved Sister,

This photo of us popped up on my computer and I thought you might share my delight.

That hill behind us is now covered with very tall and dense trees!  The windmill is surrounded by them. From below, you cannot see the top of the hill. There is a pond! There is a garden raided nightly by critters!  I have corn.  It is a different landscape entirely!

And we are still us.  What a blessing.  I love you dearly.  And am so grateful for our solidarity – in spite of all that might have harmed it – our unswerving affection and so mutual admiration.

Gloria, querida hermana: Esta foto nuestra apareció en mi computadora y pensé que compartirías mi alegría. ¡Esa colina que tenemos detrás ahora está cubierta de árboles altísimos y frondosos! El molino de viento está rodeado por ellos. Desde abajo, no se ve la cima de la colina. ¡Hay un estanque! ¡Hay un huerto que los animalitos saquean todas las noches! Tengo maíz. ¡Es un paisaje totalmente distinto! Y nosotras seguimos siendo nosotras. Qué bendición. Te quiero muchísimo. Y estoy muy agradecida por nuestra solidaridad —a pesar de todo lo que podría haberla dañado—, por nuestro afecto inquebrantable y por nuestra admiración mutua.
