In this insanity
Who has kept their dignity
More than dogs?
You are evolved Beings
If you never
Find the cure for cancer
Or of any malady at all.
If you don’t discover
An America
Or know where Russia
Actually is.
You are the standard
Of what some think of as human
Behavior.
Never bombing anyone.
Never starving anyone.
Never withholding love
Or food.
And can we even mention
Forgiveness?
You are the champion
Of that.  Say a kind human word
Or offer a pat
And the war
Whatever nonsense
it was
Is over.
Thank you
For showing us
How to live
A worthwhile life.
For teaching us the way
To love
And in the loving
Self-acceptance
Of the exact Being
We happen to be
To find

happiness. ~aw
