Leonard Peltier, self- portrait, master artist, in the month (September) of his birth

Leonard Peltier, a member of AIM, the American Indian Movement, has been in prison since 1976, for a crime he may not have committed. In prison he has worked diligently at his art, becoming a master painter. In this self-portrait we see the resolve of a soul committed to evolving into the self that bars  will never contain. An elder now, at 82 years old, we salute the force of character he is showing us. That even in prison – serving two consecutive life terms and denied parole by presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama, he has found his path, and is on it.  May we, “free,” be so  fortunate. ~aw
