VIOLENCE

VIOLENCE:

All beings tremble before violence.
All fear death. All love life.
See yourself in others. Then whom can you hurt?
What harm can you do?
He who seeks happiness
By hurting those who seek happiness
Will never find happiness.
For your brother (sister) is like you.
He wants to be happy.
Never harm him…
Never speak harsh words
For they will rebound upon you.
Angry words hurt
And the hurt rebounds.
Like a broken gong
Be still, be silent.
Know the stillness of freedom
Where there is no more striving.
Like herdsmen driving their cows
into the fields,
Old age and death will drive you
before them.
But the fool in his mischief forgets
And lights the fire
Wherein one day he will burn.
Be harmless, be blameless.
The farmer channels water to his land.
The fletcher whittles his arrows.
The carpenter turns his wood.
And the wise man (person) masters himself.

LA VIOLENCIA:

Todos los seres tiemblan ante la violencia.
Todos temen a la muerte. Todos aman la vida.
Mírate en los otros. Entonces, ¿a quién puedes herir?
¿Qué puede herirte?
Aquel que busca la felicidad
dañando a quienes buscan felicidad
jamás encontrará la felicidad.
Porque tu hermano (hermana) es como tú.
Él quiere ser feliz.
Nunca le hagas daño.
Nunca le digas palabras duras
porque rebotarán contra ti.
Las palabras hirientes duelen
y la herida rebota.
Como un gong roto
estate quieto, silencioso.
Conoce la quietud de la libertad
donde no hay más lucha.
Como los pastores que llevan sus vacas
por los campos,
la vejez y la muerte te llevarán
ante ellos.
Pero el tonto en su maldad olvida
y enciende el fuego
en donde un día arderá.
Sé inofensivo, sé honesto.
El granjero drena agua a su tierra.
El flechero afila sus flechas.
El carpintero tornea su madera.
Y el hombre sabio (la persona) se domina a sí mismo.
