On September 22, 2012, I lost my literary agent of four decades, Wendy Weil, of the Wendy Weil Agency, in New York City. Wendy died suddenly, unexpectedly, of a heart attack. She was at her country home in Connecticut, reading manuscripts. Her recently adopted dog, Hamish, was nearby.
Her memorial was two months later. Below is the video message I delivered.
A few weeks before her death she had sent this beautiful photo of her with Hamish, who replaced Bridey, her dog of many years, who died last year. In this photo, which I love, there is all the tenderness and joy of someone who felt deeply, loved bravely, and was in general a cool, serene light in the world.
